A new North Kings GSA policy requiring well registration went into effect on Thursday, May 1st. The policy was adopted by the North Kings GSA at its April 24th Board Meeting. As a member agency of the GSA, this requirement applies to all wells within FID boundaries – including agricultural, industrial, private domestic (household), school district, and public water system wells.
Wells must be registered by November 30, 2025 to avoid late registration fees.
The GSA has a support team available by email, phone, or virtual appointment to help well owners through the registration process if needed.
More information on well registration is available in the excerpt below from the North Kings GSA or at northkingsgsa.org/wellregistration.
North Kings GSA Requires Well Registration by November 30 to Keep Momentum on Local Groundwater Management
As of May 1, 2025, North Kings GSA is requiring landowners to register their agricultural and domestic wells by November 30, 2025. The policy was adopted at the April 24 Board of Directors meeting.
Well owners should start the registration process as soon as possible using the online platform, Subcurrent, by visiting northkingsgsa.subcurrentapp.com.
The North Kings GSA launched a voluntary well registration in March 2024 to ensue that groundwater is managed by local leaders and experts who understand our land and livelihoods. North Kings GSA believes in taking a proactive approach to groundwater management under SGMA. So far, this proactive approach has worked to meet SGMA milestones expected by the State to keep local control.
By registering wells, landowners help keep decisions about how groundwater is managed in local hands, rather than in the hands of State regulators.
