Fresno Irrigation District Job Opportunities
The Fresno Irrigation District’s (FID) mission is to protect and manage the surface and groundwater resources of the District to meet the present and future needs of the people and land within the District.
FID is a leader in California water, serving over 200,000 acres of prime agricultural farmland in Fresno County while serving the San Joaquin Valley’s largest metropolitan area, Fresno and Clovis. FID delivers surface water to the cities’ respective water treatment plants and diverts flood flows which would otherwise inundate the nearly one million residents with storm water. All these operations occur within FID’s system of nearly 700 miles of canals and pipelines throughout the District.
What We Do
FID focuses on the delivery of surface water to customers in the agricultural, municipal, industrial, and environmental sectors of the Central Valley, while also working in tandem of the other member agencies of the North Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency for a sustainable aquifer in the Kings Subbasin.
In an otherwise semi-arid region, FID brings life – now and into the future – by retaining its extensive water rights on the Kings River and ensuring the resiliency and sustainability of groundwater. To achieve its mission, FID imports Kings River water and some San Joaquin River water into the region and is a long-term believer in groundwater banking and recharge.
Why Work at FID
When you work at FID, you have the opportunity to work with professionals who value growth, creativity, and hard work. FID has a variety of jobs that attract the greatest of trades and professionals – from engineering and construction to accounting and management.
